New Orleans Music Starts Here
Little Stompers Family Classes are designed to give young children a joyful introduction to music while connecting families to the sounds, rhythms, and traditions of New Orleans.

Our curriculum uses singing, movement, rhythm, instruments, storytelling, and creative play to help children explore foundational musical concepts in ways that feel natural and fun. Each class builds opportunities for children to listen, participate, experiment, and make music alongside their parents and caregivers.
At the heart of Little Stompers are our teaching artists. Second Line Arts trains and employs graduates of our Sanaa Music Workshop to lead Little Stompers classes, giving emerging professional musicians an opportunity to expand their skills as educators while earning paid work in the arts.

This creates a unique cycle of music education and artist development: New Orleans musicians gain meaningful professional opportunities while sharing their knowledge and culture with the next generation.
For families, that means Little Stompers is more than a weekend activity. Children learn directly from working musicians, experience New Orleans music as a living tradition, and discover the joy of making music together.
