This finale celebrates the creativity and joy of Roots of New Orleans Music with a dance party and a heartfelt acknowledgment of the organizations and individuals who supported this program. It’s a chance for everyone to embrace the vibrant spirit of New Orleans jazz and reflect on the journey through music and culture.

Materials Needed

Playlist of New Orleans-inspired music, including upbeat jazz, blues, and second line songs.

Session Steps
Welcome and Introduction (5 minutes)

Begin by welcoming students, teachers, and participants to the grand finale.

Highlight the journey of exploring New Orleans music and culture through the program.

Set the tone with an energetic New Orleans jazz song to get everyone moving.

Dance Party (10-15 minutes)

Invite everyone to dance freely to the music, incorporating movements learned throughout the program.

Second Line Parade: Lead a celebratory parade with students, teachers, and props.

Freeze Dance: Play music and pause it intermittently, encouraging participants to freeze in place.
